The short answer
Use Upwex if you want a Chrome extension that scores jobs while you browse Upwork, pushes conversations into Pipedrive, and can bid for you without your involvement. Use ProposalLift if you want the job feed, the qualification step, and the drafting in one place, and you want to read every proposal before it goes out.
The real split here is not features. It is whether you want software to apply on your behalf.
Where Upwex is the better choice
- You want hands-off bidding. Upwex puts a 24/7 auto-bidding scanner on its Max plan. ProposalLift will not do this at any price, so if that is the product you are shopping for, we are the wrong tool.
- You run sales through Pipedrive. Upwex syncs Upwork chats and creates deals, contacts, and notes. ProposalLift only offers outbound webhooks, so you would build that yourself.
- You want the cheapest paid entry point. Lite is $9.99 a month against $15 for ProposalLift Pro.
- You want client research in the browser. Upwex surfaces hire rate, average bid, and total spend on the job page, plus red flag warnings for vague briefs and low spenders.

- Your portfolio is worth matching. Your saved projects are ranked against each job by similarity, so the proof in a draft fits the work.
- You want a record you control. The open-source edition is AGPL-3.0, runs on your own server with your own API keys, and sends no telemetry.
- You want every proposal reviewed. The Chrome extension drafts and inserts on the apply page. It never submits and never spends Connects.
A fair caveat
Upwex is a mature product and its feature list is genuinely broader than ours in two places: client analytics on the job page and CRM integration. If either is central to how you work, it will serve you better, and no amount of positioning on our side changes that.
Our disagreement is narrower than the feature grid suggests. We think a proposal that a human did not read is worth less than one that a human did, and that the failure mode of automated bidding is spending Connects at scale on jobs you would have skipped. That is a product opinion, not a fact about Upwex, and you are entitled to weigh it differently.
