When this is the wrong tool for you
ProposalLift suits a freelancer who applies often enough that finding and qualifying work has become the slow part. If that is not you yet, something smaller will serve you better, and it costs you nothing to hear that now.
- If you apply a few times a month, a free extension or a good ChatGPT prompt is usually enough.
- If you want software to bid for you while you sleep, ProposalLift never submits a proposal. Tools built for automated bidding exist and we are not one of them.
- If you work mainly outside Upwork, this product assumes Upwork is your platform and will not travel with you.
- If you want a team workspace, that is the Agency plan, not Pro, and the self-hosted edition is single-user only.

Is there a free plan for freelancers?
There is a 14-day free trial with no card, and a free open-source edition you can host yourself. There is no permanently free hosted tier, so after the trial a hosted account needs Pro or Agency.
How many proposals can I write on Pro?
As many as your credits allow. A proposal costs 0.5 to 2 credits depending on the model you pick, Pro starts with 30 credits, and credit packs start at $0.99 for 5. The cheapest model is the default, so most freelancers get roughly 60 drafts from the starting balance.
Do I need my own Upwork developer app?
Not necessarily. You can connect your own Upwork app, or use the shared platform app, which is subject to a per-user cooldown and a daily budget shared across all users.
Will clients know a proposal was drafted with AI?
That depends on what you send. Drafts are built from your own persona, portfolio, and hooks rather than generic phrasing, and you edit before submitting. Read Upwork's policy on automation, and remember the account and the proposal are yours.
